Handbook - Civil Engineering

Follow the Path to Success in Civil Engineering

At IARE, students follow three key pathways to success: curriculum, career development, and skills and knowledge enhancement.

The B.Tech program in Civil Engineering features an updated curriculum that integrates core engineering skills with high-impact educational practices and project-based learning, offering minor programs in emerging technologies to provide students with a well-rounded academic foundation and practical experience for a versatile professional profile.

The Most Promising Minor Program tracks along with B.Tech Degree in CE:

  • A major is a primary focus of study, typically 160 credits.
  • A minor is a secondary focus of study, typically 18 credits.

Specialize in one of the minor programs relevant for the future of engineering

  • 1. Global Positioning System  & Geospatial Technologies
  • 2. Building Information Modeling  & Digital Construction
  • 3. Additive Manufacturing in Construction
  • 4. Transportation Systems & Urban Mobility
  • 5. Innovation & Entrepreneurship

1. Global Positioning System  & Geospatial Technologies

The minor in GPS & Geospatial Technologies equips civil engineers with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret spatial data for modern infrastructure systems. Students learn GPS/GNSS surveying, GIS-based mapping, and remote sensing techniques that are essential for smart cities, transportation planning, disaster management, and environmental monitoring. This specialization supports data-driven decision-making in large-scale infrastructure and urban development projects.

2. Building Information Modeling & Digital Construction

The minor in BIM & Digital Construction prepares civil engineers for the digital transformation of the construction industry. Students gain expertise in 3D modeling, 4D scheduling, 5D cost integration, and collaborative project coordination using BIM platforms. This track enables effective planning, reduced construction conflicts, improved productivity, and lifecycle management of buildings and infrastructure in Industry 4.0–driven construction environments.

3. Additive Manufacturing in Construction

The minor in Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) in Construction introduces students to advanced construction automation and digital fabrication technologies. The curriculum covers 3D printable concrete materials, parametric design, robotics, and sustainable rapid construction methods. This specialization prepares civil engineers to contribute to affordable housing, disaster-resilient structures, and next-generation construction practices with reduced material waste and construction time.

4. Transportation Systems & Urban Mobility

The minor in Transportation Systems & Urban Mobility enables civil engineers to design and manage efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation networks. Students study traffic flow theory, urban transport planning, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), public transport systems, and traffic safety analysis. This specialization supports future-ready solutions for smart mobility, congestion management, and integrated urban transportation planning.

5. Innovation & Entrepreneurship

The minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship empowers civil engineers to transform technical ideas into viable products, startups, and scalable solutions. The curriculum focuses on design thinking, problem identification, business model development, intellectual property rights, and startup financing, with applications in construction technology, sustainable infrastructure, and smart cities. This specialization nurtures leadership, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset essential for driving innovation in the future engineering ecosystem.
