Cyber Security is an emerging area of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). To address the industry’s increasing demand for skilled security professionals in the public and private sectors, the department of Computer Science and Engineering has designed the B.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) from the year 2020 with an intake of 120.
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) successively five times i.e. in 2008, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2022 and M.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering in the year 2019. The period of validity for B.Tech program in CSE in Tier - I is till 30 June, 2025 and M.Tech programs in CSE was till 30 June, 2022 (Submitted SAR for further accreditation status).
Security of computer networks and systems is almost always discussed within information security that has three fundamental objectives, namely confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Cyber Security refers to the technologies, processes and practices designed to protect networks, devices, app and data from any kind of cyber-attacks. Cyber Security is all about protecting the devices and network from unauthorized access or modification.

Cyber Security curriculum provides students hands-on practical experience with secure systems and applications, an understanding of the legal requirements associated with cybersecurity, and the ability to lead, manage, and contribute to building cybersecurity solutions. The comprehensive understanding of Secure coding, Information, Network and web security, Cryptography, Cyber risk, Security in context: legal, behavioral, and ethical issues and Government and national security.
The department has well-equipped specialized laboratory facilities like Programming with Objects, Linux Programming, Database Management System, Computer Networks, Web Application Development, Network Security, Penetration Testing and Cyber Operations, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Digital Forensics and Cloud Security etc. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide good practical learning and innovative environment for the students and researchers.
The students are encouraged to participate in Hackathons / Projects / Internships to improve their practical knowledge. The department also organizes regularly co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the all-round development of students such as seminars, workshops, group discussions, etc. The department imparts specialized training to students to pursue their career in core and other IT related streams through various skill development activities
